The plain rules for using Mosaik, a free desktop app that works with your own OpenRouter key.

The short version
Mosaik is free, and provided as it is. It runs on your computer and sends your messages to OpenRouter with your own key. You are responsible for that key, for how you use it, and for what OpenRouter charges you.
These terms
These terms cover the Mosaik desktop app (“the app”) and this website. By downloading or using the app, you agree to them. If you don't agree, don't use the app. “We” and “us” mean the independent developer who makes Mosaik.
Using the app
Mosaik Chat is free. You may install it on your own computers and use it for personal or work purposes. You may not sell the app, pass it off as your own, or distribute changed copies of it.
Mosaics, the paid upgrade that is coming later, will have its own terms, which you'll see before you buy it.
Your OpenRouter key and costs
The app reaches AI models through OpenRouter, using an API key from your own OpenRouter account. We never receive your key or your payments.
- You are responsible for keeping your key safe, and for everything done with it.
- You are responsible for your usage and its cost at OpenRouter. OpenRouter bills you directly, at its prices.
- The costs, totals and spending limits the app shows are there to help you. They can differ from what OpenRouter charges, and OpenRouter's own figures are the ones that count.
Other services
When you use the app, your messages go to OpenRouter and to the model provider you choose, and web searches go to the search services that answer them. Their own terms and policies apply to that use, and you agree to follow them, including OpenRouter's terms and the usage policies of the models you use. We don't control those services and aren't responsible for them.
What you make
We claim no rights in your prompts, files or the answers you get, and we don't receive them. What a model provider's terms say about them still applies.
AI answers can be wrong, out of date or incomplete. Check anything that matters before you rely on it.
Acceptable use
Don't use the app to break the law, to harm others, or to get around the limits and rules of the services it connects to.
Updates and changes
The app checks for updates and installs them unless you turn that off in Settings › About and updates. We may change, add or remove features, and may stop offering the app.
No warranty
The app and this website are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, to the extent the law allows. We don't promise that the app will be free of errors, always available, or that it will keep your data from being lost. Keep copies of anything important.
Limits on our liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for lost data or profits, or for charges from OpenRouter or any other service, arising from your use of the app or this website. Nothing in these terms limits a liability that the law doesn't allow to be limited, or your rights as a consumer where you live.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top says when they last changed, and we'll mention a change that matters in the release notes.
