The first version anyone can download. It is Mosaik's Chat, free for good, for Windows. Mosaics, for longer projects, is coming later as a paid upgrade; its tab shows what's coming.

Chat

• Any model on OpenRouter, with your own key, kept in the Windows credential store if you choose to remember it.
• Your instructions win. Set the model, instructions, temperature and answer length for everything, or for one chat. A prompt library keeps instructions you reuse.
• Quick-ask. Select words in any message and ask about them in a popover beside the chat, without adding anything to it.
• Web search that sizes itself to the question, free and without an account, with a chip on each paragraph for the source it rests on.
• Exact tools for arithmetic, counting, dates, unit conversions, random picks and a sandboxed Python, so those answers are computed, not guessed.
• Styled answers: callouts, timelines, key figures, columns, small charts and pictures, where they help. Settings › Chat style sets how much.
• Getting around: search every chat with Ctrl K, run any command with Ctrl P, branch any answer, and export to Markdown or JSON.

Models and spending

• Presets: Free, Cheap, Balanced and Best, each resolved to the newest models your key can use, or a model of your choice for each job.
• Spending in view: what each answer cost, what you've spent today and this month, daily and monthly limits ($10 a month to start with), and a switch that turns paid models off.
• The Settings assistant changes settings when you say what you want, and a setup guide gets you from key to first answer in about a minute.

The app

• A Windows installer that installs for you only, with no administrator prompt. It isn't signed yet: see Install for the SmartScreen step.
• Updates itself, in the background, and installs when you close it. Settings › About and updates can make it ask first, or not look at all.
• Report a problem from inside the app, and see exactly what will be sent before you send it.
• From OpenRouter Chat: the first start copies your chats, settings and remembered key into Mosaik, and leaves the old folder as it was.
• No analytics or usage statistics.
